Use of terrorist for the Sikhs is a heinous conspiracy to stigmatize the community: Parminder Brar

-- 20 December,2018

Chandigarh, December 20 Dubbing the entire Sikh community as “terrorists:” in its recent secret security report by Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau government smacks of an international conspiracy to defame the community and amounts to a serious attack on the Community’s glorious history, sacred tenets, its values and  culture.

Stating this here today, president of the Student Organization of India and member core committee of the Shiromani Akali Dal, Parminder Brar lased out at this undemocratic, unpleasant and unfortunate decision and urged the Canadian government to immediately withdraw this unholy reference immediately and tender an unqualified apology for the blunder which the government had inadvertently committed.

It is shocking that the Sikh Community have settled and adopted Canada as their home for the last over hundred years and has contributed immensely for the economy, culture, social and political life yet some bureaucrats or some self styled security officers unwarrantedly have turned hostile and spewed venum against a spiritually oriented, progressive and most civilized community.

Brar urged all Canadian brethrens especially the federal ministers, ministers of various provinces, parliamentarians, all elites dominating various professions in Canadian life should immediately effective intervention in their own way to ensure this course correction.

The student leader was shocked and surprised over such a report purportedly released by a progressive Canadian government which respect human rights and which in itself is multi-cultural society and not any monolithic autocratic  empire.

Back home, Brar assured that SAD president Sukhbir Badal through Indian high Commission would take up with the Canadian government and also urged the Indian government, Punjab chief minister, president Sikh Gurudwara Prabandhak Commitee and all others cutting across party or religious lines to take up the genuine cause to restore the bruised image of the community.

Brar said that Canada is second most Sikhs’ land and they must live with their heads high and any stigma would be unwarranted and intolerable. He urged the government to set the record straight for the present and posterity.
