Vigilance registers corruption case against two head constables, one nabbed

Chandigarh, March 19: State Vigilance Bureau registered a corruption case against two head constables (HC) for accepting bribe of Rs. 5,000 cash and a cheuqe of Rs. 25,000. In this case one constable has been arrested.

Disclosing this here an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said the VB registered a bribery case against head constables Chamkaur Singh and Devinder Singh, both posted at Maur police station in Bathinda district. He said a complainant named Kamal Mittal of ward-6, Aggarwal Colony, district Bathinda has approached the VB and said the both accused were demanding Rs. 30,000 for not registering a case under NDPS Act against him and his brother.

After verifying his information, the Vigilance team laid a trap and constable Chamkuar Singh was arrested on the spot while accepting bribe of Rs. 5,000 cash and a cheque of Rs. 25,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.

He informed that a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against both the accused at VB police station Bathinda and further investigation was under progress.
