Why mum over farmers’ suicides, deaths of youth due to drug over doze?:Mann asks Captain

Chandigarh, March 29 : Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab wing chief and Sangrur Member of Parliament (MP) Bhagwant Mann said that the Badals had offered the people of the state more brickbats than bouquets during their 10-year long misrule.

In a statement issued from party headquarters in Chandigarh here on Friday, Mann said the people of the state had given him the decisive mandate in the 2017 Assembly elections, in anticipation that he would do a precious little to do something for them. They were lured by the rosy dreams he peddled among them, Mann said. But the people got the shock of their life when they saw him backtracking on all those promises made to them one after the other. He said the distraught people were now ready to teach both of them the lesson.

Mounting a scathing attack on the Badals, he said that they were behaving like once-an-oppressor-now-a-sympathizer to lure the gullible people. He said that these days Sukhbir Badal and Bikram Singh Majithia could be seen shedding crocodile tears by batting for those on a warpath for their rights, be it the farmers sitting in ‘dharnas’ or nurses striking work or cane growers making the deaf dispensation here by holding protests. He said how the farmers, unemployed youth, contractual and other employees, pensioners and others could forget the highhandedness that they had to face during their 10-year rule?          

He said the Badals stand exposed on their alleged involvement in the desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib and firing incident at Bebhal Kalan and captain Amarinder Singh for protecting them in the case, he said.

He lamented that both the Badals and Captain were maintaining a stoic silence over the rising incidents of the scourge of suicides committed by farmers and the youth dying of drug over doze. The trend had refused to stop, Mann said, as three more farmers had committed suicides on Friday.
